Description:
Ever since I started using 3D applications, I have always dreamt of being able to recreate something nature does beautfully. My personal favorite among all others is the Earth. Her splendid natural beauty is something I want to strive to make in 3D.

Thank you Jacob for your comment,

And yes, I know that stars are an important element that are missing. As I expressed in the below comments.

There's one important part of this that is missing: stars.

The planet looks great.

Thank you, and yes I understand that stars are a necessary visual element to something like this. However my focus on this image is strictly of the Earth, and nothing more. There is no sun either. The Earth itself is made of three different layers. A high resolution Earth map and bump, a high resolution cloud map and bump, and an atmosphere shader. The clouds cast shadows on the Earth map, and the image was originally rendered at 5,000 by 2,813. I could have added stars, but for this image I felt it was unnecessary since it is purely a demonstration of the planet.

I will check out the workstations from Armari.com, thank you for showing me this.

Hey Eugen,

nice render but as @Wayne9 said, you should think about adding some stars.

If you are thinking about buying new workstation go and check Armari.com I'm using their workstation from 2 years already and im very happy with quality.

Scraggy,

Thank you.

I will E-Mail you when I get back from out of state so it's on my home computer. I appreciate your offer, and look forward to having that PDF. I'll E-Mail you soon if you don't read this comment. What I have learned, thanks to Google... ;P Is to disable many of the render settings in Vue, and not to use the internal render. There isn't much I can say I know though, so perhaps that PDF will come in handy.

I haven't found any integration with Vue into the latest version of Maya, 2011. I know it has it for 2009. I'll have to start focusing my attention on Vue again.

I was looking at Boxx's workstations or personal render farms. Almost convinced to buy one. Their rep I have an E-Mail history with sends me new info including the updates they release here and there. Dunno, might just go for it.
