Brian Smith began his 2D and 3D CAD studies at West Point in the early 90s. Following his active duty service he worked as an animation specialist in architectural, engineering, and landscaping firms in southwest Florida. He started his own company in 2001, specializing in the production of architectural animations and renderings. A few years later he teamed up with business partner Brian Zajac to cofound 3DAS (3D Architectural Solutions) in Sarasota, Florida. Shortly thereafter, both partners began the subsidiary training company 3DATS (3D Architectural Training Solutions).

3DATS has published numerous books dedicated to architectural visualization with Autodesk® 3ds Max® software and is currently working on several more. Brian has produced dozens of free professional-level tutorials and webinars and spent countless hours over the years helping fellow artists on various 3D forums.
