Imagine a polygone sphere. And now ICE extrude each polygon for some amount (lets think random value). As result each polygon will have same normal as before but bigger area (if it was extruded for more that 0). Attached image has explanation. Original sphere (hexagon in center) processed, in result every polygon extruded and increase size. I spent some time with extrude polygon island but did not get proper result. The simulation uses instanced geometry that flows along a curve. My emitter is a simple rectangle that matches my desired width of the simulation. The instance geometry is also simple rectangles, all of the instance particles flow on the curve at the same orientation and pace. ICE is pretty challenging for me, so any information on how to figure this out is greatly appreciated. Both have been added to my ice node definition on plugin load with ICENodeDef::AddOutputPort() Both ports output the the same length of data. If I create a blank ICE tree on a "particle cloud" primitive, run an AddPoint into the the Execute of my first ice tree port, and feed the Add Point with values from my vector3 attribute this works, I get my points appearing as expected in the viewport. However I also want to be able to set the color of these points. I have attempted to use a Set Particle Color, plugged into my AddPoints "On Creation" Plug, and I have also tried on a seperate execute plug on the ICE Tree Node. But the Context of the source Color4 attribute "Per Generated Element", and the input required for the Set Particle Color is "Per Object or Point of pointcloud.pointcloud". I can see that the problem is to do with the wrong context on the output of my color4 port, however I am unable to use any other context when ElementGenerator is used for any other port in the SDK - If I do the plugin wont load. Does anyone have any advice on how I can wire this up in ICE, or if there is something I am overlooking in the SDK. Cheers -- Update -- The only way I have managed to get this to work is to have two of my loaders, on 2 seperate point clouds. On the Second point Cloud I take my Color output convert it to RGBA -> Put each of R G B into a Scalar to Vector 3, then plug this into an Add point. I Now have 2 point clouds, one representing the acutal positions from my loader ,the other representing the Colors as positions, I now have to go back to the first one, use a Get Data to get the Point Posiition of My "Color-Position" point cloud, switch the context, then convert this Vector back to Color and then Set Particle Color. Maybe someone could give me a hand? Thanks. I have a lagoa simulation of liquid. The liquid, soap actually, is supposed to run down the surface of the soap suspender. I can't manage to get the soap to stick to the surface. I set 'Soft Repulsion' to -1000, of course any value above it as well. Soft repulsion is also enabled in the Simulate Multiphysics node. I fiddled with Elastic Breaking Point. to no avail. Please have a look at attached screen shot. I figured I would post and see if anyone has any ideas. When I open the ICE window (alt 9) . Softimage crashes immediately . I can still run a ICE simulation, that doesn't crash the program, but the ICE window will crash the program. I recently switched out a graphics card and added another card, but I haven't used ICE in a while, so I can't say for sure if the problem existed before or not. - I recently added the RED Rocket video card - removed the Nivida Quadro FX1800 - and added the Nvidia GeForce 550 GTX Ti I've already uninstalled XSI and reinstalled - problem still here. I will start the process of problem solving by switching out the Nvidia cards again, but figured I would put this out there and see if anyone sees something obvious. Also, when I switched out the cards, Nvidia recommended to Not uninstall the old quadro driver but install the geforce "on top". Could this be a driver conflict issue? But I got my self a problem, that I cannot overcome. When I deform leafs they swing some what good, but their center is also deformed and moves from one place to another. I was trying to devise a way of muting the center, but to no avail. If I use "if" node like I did to mute trunk from leafs the effect will get too hard.. I need some weighted solution to to partially effect the leafs at the roots an fully effect them at their tips. The problem with my current situation is that I cannot use anything except the tree mesh it self and clusters that are created (or make a couple of cluster my self). I may not use any additional objects and I cannot paint weights either. This palm is only a quick example I made to find solution.. The actual trees will be ported from another software and they will be a lot more complex. I will need to seed them over a planes to make a forest. Anyways. My idea was to some how create a center (for example via a cluster point)from which I would calculate a sort of weakening weight (similar to effect to modulate by null compound)but this weight should gradually disable the effect of turbulize the closer it gets to the center. I thought that this way I could not only fate swinging leafs, but also swinging trunk.. The effects would be very subtle but I think it could be a solution..
