I just came across a post in another forum that stated that ALL Autodesk software only used one core.  I was under the impression that this was not the case.  I also thought that Maya was multi threadable, I use that software as well but not in the past year or so.

I believe that when working in the Showcase software it might only use one core.  I have seen multiple cores active in my task manager during rendering.  Again this added to my impression that it was multi threadable.

Just asking, this really isn’t that important as long as the work gets done fast.

Uh, that post in another forum was wrong. Many, many Autodesk products are multi-threaded and will use all available cores, including Showcase.

If you happen to have multiple cores and Showcase, certain aspects (like ray tracing) will use all the cpu power you have to spare. I regularly see all 8 cores on my workstation chugging away when in RT mode in Showcase 2010 or 2011! (And they free up when my RT quality level is achieved!) When it comes to other aspects of the app (hardware shaded mode, animation, etc.) there are sometimes few, if any, benefits from multithreading the commands.

Inventor is the only Autodesk product that cant utilize mult-core/threads in the model design mode.
