improve Ray Tracing speed

I was wondering if that on large models, mine being a body of water, if you can tell the ray tracing not to work so hard in the distance? Its currently taking days to render my image.

The ocean should just be a background image. Render it once then limit your ocean geometry to a few hundred meters and render again. Photoshop the background back in once you are done.
