Thanks. 2012-05-22T20:00:37+02:00 Mudbox 2012 SP3/2013 SP2 Linux version freezes at 99% when generate maps !!! http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/mudbox-2012-sp32013-sp2-linux-version-freezes-at-99-when-generate-maps-/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/mudbox-2012-sp32013-sp2-linux-version-freezes-at-99-when-generate-maps-/page-last/#When:12:39:26Z Mudbox 2012 SP3/2013 SP2 Linux version freezes at 99% when generate maps and shows Tangents calculating ... Not sure about Windows version but Linux versions (2012/2013) on my computer have this issue. The actually maps can be generated even it freezes at 99% and shows Tangents calculating... However, it is very annoying because I have to force Mudbox to quit everytime at this step. Please don't assume my geometries have problems. It's confirm carefully with ngons and strange shapes in it. I even tested with a simple tube in Maya and brought it into Mudbox for testing. It gave me the same result and froze at 99%. Please do a test on linux version and see if the same issue happens to you. Noticed it crashes the whole application when switching between ray cast vs subdivision drop down menu. Secondly, even if I choose 32bit exr or tif , it bakes to 16bit with a gain value. lso the Bit Depth type in the UI says 16 bit or 8bit as opposed to float. Pretty serious problems today and we had to revert to rebuilding our Mud scenes in 2012 just to bake them out. has anyone else had problems with the extract menu doing this ? My prefs are cached to different locations for 2012 and 2013 so no issues there I would hope (tested workflow on same machine with mud box 2012 and no problems) thanks 2012-05-21T01:44:26+02:00 Mudbox doesnt start on my Laptop http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/mudbox-doesnt-start-on-my-laptop/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/mudbox-doesnt-start-on-my-laptop/page-last/#When:17:20:38Z Hi, i have installed studentversion of mudbox 2013 on my laptop for trying out the software, but it doesnt start, because it says that the software only support ati or Geforce ... is there other possibility to start the programm and why it is so limited ? cheers Kin3tix 2012-05-19T17:20:38+02:00 Curve Tool --> Retopo Tool ? http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/curve-tool---gt-retopo-tool-/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/curve-tool---gt-retopo-tool-/page-last/#When:09:09:47Z The more I use the Curve Tools, the more I think it could evolve into a retopology tool like the ones in 3D Coat. The curve tool in mudbox really works well and lays right on top of the mesh. If AD can pull this one out would be really good. At least in my view, it shows great promise and possibility. 2012-05-16T09:09:47+02:00 migrating 2011->2013 http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/migrating-2011-2013/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/migrating-2011-2013/page-last/#When:05:14:54Z i installed mudbox 2013 which seems has gotten rid of the bugs in 2011, now my issue is with a few changes in this version. 1. Is there a way to see the subdivided wires? I can only see the base cage wires which is useless to me, i need to be able to see the sub wires to get rid of pinches and such 2. What happened to the bump maps? All of them seem to be on an overdrive and super sharp, the old bump shader was perfect match to what i saw in MR renderings, why change stuff that isnt broken? 3. The new light setups are crap, i want my default2 back. All the new ones are either too straight forward so you cant see the big picture or too around the bush so you cant see any fine detail. 4. The new version seems to drop textures of things out of sight out of the memory and stutters when it reloads them, whats the point of this? mudbox is barely eating 1gb out of my 64gb of ram. 5. Every time i move the camera around that brings previously out of sight things into view that blue thing flashes in the upper left corner, annoying! 6. Frozen objects are now painted blue, all though i didnt like them being painted gray before (cant they just stay whatever color they are?) the blue is even more distracting. 2012-05-16T05:14:54+02:00 Troubleshooting and Bugs http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/troubleshooting-and-bugs/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-mudbox/general-discussion/troubleshooting-and-bugs/page-last/#When:01:34:56Z Notice: I've been asked to inform you all that in future all bugs and suspected bugs are to be posted in this thread as some are getting pushed onto page 2 etc and may get missed. There are also some video help files on the site as well, although you are STRONGLY encouraged to read the help files as not everything is covered in the videos. as well as what was in the promo video I have added 2 extra little features: • A interop between Mudbox and Zbrush • Zbrush users can now make full use of ReDucto (as can Maya, 3DsMax and Softimage Users) • video showing how to add any app with scripting or an SDK in about 2 very easy lines of code anyone can do. • A third totally different poly reduction algorithm of mine 'WeaponX' MudWalker Features: • Send back and forth to many supported applications (including scene update as well) • 'NoQuarter' A Voxel grid based polygon reduction with 9 easy to use auto settings • Export selected faces/parts of your models or all of them (This can be used for easy model to 3d print parts workflow) • Take all models in scene to their lowest subdivision level • Take all models in the scene to their highest subdivision level • Create a complete Multi Application project file structure if you wish • Easy to add unsupported applications • Send to Mudbox & Export to ReDucto from Zbrush • Start ReDucto out of the box from 3DsMax, Maya & Softimage • 'WeaponX' hybrid polygon reduction (think of it as a hybrid of ReDucto and NoQuarter, with the speed of the latter and very nearly the quality of output of the former ReDucto Features: • Unique Polygon Reduction Algorithm using its own AI that works out how best to reduce the polycount of your mesh created especially for digital sculpts. It gives better results that anything around currently. • Intelligent hole filling capable of filling 'impossible holes' other apps will reject • Industrial strength tri stripping and un-stripping • Bake Ambient Occlusion and Normal map data direct to your mesh at vertex level • Mesh merging of high polycount datasets • Find and Fix problems in your mesh such as rogue vertex, non planar faces many, many more • Face, edge and vertex optimisation to enable faster loading times • 3 types of subdivision not found in most applications • Customisable interface configurations • ReDucto is a standalone separate application and as such is totally application agnostic Some extras you get as well: • A drag and drop file viewer with support for many file types for fast reviewing of models • 'Mudbox Backup' This simple exe will back up every setting in all versions of Mudbox installed on your machine into one place for easy restoring should the preference files become corrupt. Brushes, materials, hotkeys...everything • Save and restore all Mudbox settings in one click All made available for free on the stipulation that I do not get any emails for tech support / requests for features / complaints you got abducted by aliens due to MudWalker or ReDucto. If you are a company please send me a courtesy email notifying you are using either ReDucto or MudWalkerX. It will cost you nothing. As many people requested it I had added a donate button on the psychocore.com site for those that want to, but there is no obligation to. UI customization is excellent and the multipurpose curves, mirroring objects are excellent additions. I like the fact that mudbox is getting few things from Zbrush, but it also keeps the UI and workflow friendliness. That said, I would still wish the next release would be more about brushes and other sculpting functionalities: UV Creation Retopology New brushes 2012-05-15T03:30:14+02:00
