texture rendering error

for some reason when i’m sculpting/painting textures my mesh will go all black (excluding incandesence) all of my paint layers dissapear. they do come back after irestard mudbox. is there a way to avoid this or fix the problem without restarting my program?

could be a graphics card issue… how much ram does your card have..?

that’s probably it everytime that issue pops up i get a warning “ not enough memory” i only have 4065MB so about 4GB which brings me to my next question. I’m looking at purchasing a pro grade graphics card would you recommend any particular one. If it helps any i’m using both maya and mudbox. for the soul purpose of animating

that should be enough… mudbox should work with 512mb fine…
