I am attempting to create a quadruped skeleton for a dog. I tried taking a dog skeleton from Quidam and importing it to Motion Builder to create animation, but every attempt I either lose the skeleton or the skeleton gets all jumbled up. I am exporting in FBX format. Has anyone else had similar problems with importing FBX quadruped skeletons? I have also heard from my professor that there is a way to take existing motion capture data and convert it into a skeleton in Motion Builder 2012. Can anyone point me in the general direction of this feature, because I found some free Mocap online that I could utilize? I suggest the following pipeline: First I have my optical markerset which consists of translational information of each marker. This translational information is mapped onto my actor. Plottin this actors movement to a character gets me a control rig which has both translational and rotational data. My question now is how and when the rotational data of the control rig is created. Does that happen during the baking or even earlier? I’m just trying to understand what’s the difference between the actor and the characters. Thanks for your help. The lab I work for uses motion capture of eight data points, four on the head and four on the sternum. It gets exported in .c3d data. I downloaded some dummy .c3d data online so I know how to use it to drive an actor and such. However, the data we get from our lab will not run an actor. I use the data points to create a marker set, yet when the data points move the marker points do not move also. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is a full body set of markers required or will head and chest data work alone? Is there a problem with the data? We would like to streamline our process and connect the computers together, to allow the facial capture to stream live from the 32-bit computer into the 64-bit machine's MotionBuilder, parallel to the gross-body movement that the 64-bit computer is capturing. I'm working in the story window so I've got the motion capture data in a Character Animation Track and I am adding by keys movements for the hands with the Expression Constraints for each hand in a Character Additive Subtrack. My problem is that the constraints are working on the control rig but when I want to plot the animation to the control rig and finally plot it on the skeleton to export , I'm losing the animation on the hands.
