I am trying to create a workflow that allows me to do some hand animation in Maya 2011(ideally on a rig with controllers) on top of a skeleton that has mocap animation plotted in Motionbuilder 2011 onto it
Any ideas?

Import the entire character rig from MotionBuilder and use Animation Layers to animate the control rig in Maya. You have to make sure import character definition is checked in the FBX importer

I have a character rig referenced into a scene, but when I import my mocap fbx file into the scene I get some weird results. (The process works fine if I don’t reference the rigged character).
Has anyone had this problem before? Or can anyone give me some advice on creating a workflow with referenced, rigged characters?
