| Updates for older versions of Motion Builder

Hello,
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I am at a bit of a dead end. I bought Motionbuilder 5 a few years ago and upgraded to the free version 5.5 update when it came out, which I have been running on my PC quite happily ever since it came out. Recently I have switched to the mac and went to download motionbuilder 5.5 for osx, and found that there are no links to updates anymore on the autodesk/alias site. It seems, from what I can gather, that in order to have updates I must be a subscriber. Is this correct? Surely there is a server somewhere where the mb 5.5 update is sitting. If anyone can point me in the right direction, or an autodesk person can contact me in private I am happy to prove that I have a license and would really appreciate some help with this problem. I have tried emailing autodesk from autodesk.com, but have had no reply. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I’ve got the same exact question, and had about the same general experience trying to get an answer. I can’t find any FAQs that don’t refer largely to the PLE, so no help there.
Anyone know if upgrades from 5.5 are even possible? Or has MB turned into solely a high-per-seat sub proposition?

I too have the exact same question. this is compounded by the fact that 3d Studio Max 2008 has an fbx import/export that does not support anything older then mb 5.5
below is the responce I got from Autodesk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Autodesk does not support Motionbuilder 5 as the current version has now reached Motionbuilder 7.5. You may interact with others in the discussion forums ( http://area.autodesk.com/forum/ ) ay still be using version 5, and might have answers to your questions. Support for the current versions and potential download patches for the current version is obtained by having a active subscription contract. These contracts may be purchased through an Authorized Autodesk Reseller. A list of resellers is available from the webpage:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so it sounds like you cant get this through the subscriptions because the subscription updates for the current version of MB.

There are a couple of points in this thread:
The latest FBX plug-ins can be updated by following the links here:
http://autodesk.com/fbx
You can also access the Standalone FBX converter there to update older files outside of your application.
My understanding is that the oldest supported version of MotionBuilder is V7 as of this time.
All the (USA) subscription info is available here:

Hope this helps!
