I’m new to Motionbuilder and was wondering what is a good way to prep a character in 3D Max for export into Motionbuilder?  I think if you use a certain naming convention for the bones you can easily characterize the model in Motionbuilder.  Also does anyone know of any tutorials or documentation that covers this topic?

you’re right - if you use a certain naming convention motionbuilder will automatically characterise for you.
check your documentation/ online help, or alternatively, look at the character settings - as long as you have the “Required” set then MBuilder will do the rest.
