I´m having massive problems with motionbuilder 2011. I got the character from this tutorial http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/actor_face_to_character_face

so when I open it with motionbuilder 2011 it crashes everytime, I just see it for 2 or 3 seconds in the viewport and then -> BAM crash. Same happens when opening mia. I reinstalled Motionbuilder nearly 5 times. When doing stuff with the pepe character or aragon everything is fine. I also applied some facial mocap from a marker set to an actor face. But when I want to load this custom character it crashes.

Have you tried the File> Import FBX (instead of file>open)

then it works but then i only got the bones I want to view it with its skin to apply the character face to it. On my other pc it works but on my laptop it crashes. Same with the mia character. Maybe my graphics card is not supported but I dont think that its because of the integrated graphics.

I’ve been using 2011 for quite awhile now (and a little 2012). My last job I wasn’t getting as many problems as I am now. The new layers are okay for quickly selecting ( a little faster than using a puldown menu). I’m not a fan of auto zero’ing my reaches when I’m zeroing a controller out. the newer timewarp layout is subtly different but almost inhibits its use. I do have to say I prefer that the way it was before.
There are a couple weird bugs though,
sometimes I delete geo or an object in the scene and it remains. there is no node avaialbe in the navigator so I’m forced to find it in the schematic view and delete there.
Another issue I’m having currently is that when i rename my take and save the file won’t reopen (crash at 99 percent).
Otherwise it runs rather well. I’m still getting used to some of the differnt material behaviors and group arrangement in the navigator but i’m sure that comes with time and use.
