Hello All,

I have a character set up with blend shapes to speak and when I drag and drop an audio file onto the characters face and select attach facial from the drop down menu that appears, and then go to the voice devices and add a few default phonemes when I go to the character face definitions expressions custom tab I should see the phonemes created there but they are not present.

I am basically following this process,

For some reason that I can’t figure out. The constraint relationships device is not automatically creating the proper wiring between the voice node and the character face, this has worked for me in the past with no problem but for some reason it just will not work.

I am using motionBuilder 2011 and maya 2011 with FBX plugin 2011.3

I have reinstalled a clean version of motionbuilder 2011 service pack 1

also tried testing this with a simple sphere with blend shapes and still no connections are being made between the voice and character face in the constraints relationship.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

It’s been mentioned on the forum as a Mobu2011 bug.
It looks like that’s been solved in 2012 though ...

Thanks for the info, I downloaded trial of 2012 and tried it, well they almost fixed it, there are still some patches you must manually connect, but its far better than needing to recreate the whole thing.

i am encountering the same problem, but when i tried using a student version of 2012, i was still encountering the same dilemma...how did you go about manually connecting the problems?

Hi Guys it works,
You need to press the ;Add’ expression button on the character face.

F*** knows why but the face will just pop into action,
Hope that helps, U still need to manualy connect the stots in the relation editor thought
