Hi KxL,

you can be sure that everyone in this forum is desperately waiting for another of your tutorials ... just in case you need more positive feedback :-)
MB tutorials are very rare and yours are covering details that even the official MB manual doesen’t explain. Of course nobody wants to urge you but ... only if you find some spare time ... ehm ... ppppplease :-)

cheers and thanks for all your tuts you have done so far !

Thank you.

Just wanted to let you know that I started working on next tutorial, or I should say tutorials:
- Joints & Ragdoll (Hair, etc) (22)
- Python for Physics (how to speed up workflow) (22)

Hair setup takes much time without little handy script...still not sure how to do that scripting tutorial - I will show tool, give code...any idea on what else could be done (and that doesn’t take me years to finish;) ) ?

As for bad news...having trouble with time, but I hope to have in ready this week(end)!

Cheers!

Sorry for late reply.

I’m not really sure if the are many people waiting for those two. Maybe you can post some questions related to those features and based on that I will make tutorial?

Cheers

Hi KXL

i guess i don’t really have any questions on ragdoll poses and Magnetic force, tornado, but it’s more of
“what is possible with your tutorials” as most of us who watch your tuts it amazement.
so to ask questions on the subject might just limit the understanding if you know what i mean…
mind you if i where to ask a question, it would be…
Is it possible for MB ragdoll poses to act like the one in NaturalMotion’s endorphin?

thanx again,

MM
future “Creative suite 2012” customer

P.s Please ask autodesk to make an official MotionBuilder Dynamics dvd

Hey KXL, just to chime in ‘coz I know you’ve already got some questions about it, I’d love if the next tutorial was about cloth/softbodies/fluids. BTW, if I use the physx solver into Motionbuilder, are the results exactly the same if I port the values to my game engine? I’m especially currious about this kind of workflow for Unity, the game engine we use, that also has PhysX phisics. Any hint on that would be greatly appreciated.

PS.: You’re the man, I had no idea how to make ragdoll matching work reliably before watching your videos!

Hi KxL, Thanks for the update. Your physics tutorials are so important to me that I check this thread daily for any new stuff. I have gone over your tutorials many times. ANIMATION MIXING and all the other cool MB physics stuff is so mind boggling and powerful to me BUT SADLY except basically for you there is no mention of it. I always check youtube and nothing new comes up. So, we will be waiting for your next surprise!

Hi There KxL,

I recently followed your excellent tutorial for ragdoll joints/python ref pigtails/ponytail but have a problem importing to max 2011

THE PROBLEM: Having successfully completed a sample character animation in M/Builder, baked the take & imported the fbx file to max 2011 [add to scene]; the file imports ok but the ponytail chain constraints are missing - result is no binding of the ponytail
[using the latest fbx plugin 2011.3.1] which apparently does not support animated constraints?

Any help, suggestions would be welcome -anybody?

Look forward to any comments -many thanks

Growthweb,
I am very sorry I have disappoint you. I am trying to do my best and get back to life on the Area.

Storeybook,
After recording animation, can you try to select pigtails/ponytail skeleton and plot it ? This way you can remove constraints because animation will be plotted from rigid bodies to skeleton. Maybe that would be a nice addition to script.

Cheers

Thanks KxL, excellent stuff. Takes my animations up a notch, that’s for sure. Not speaking for him, but I don’t think Growthweb was disappointed, he was just saying that it’s hard to find good stuff on MB on the web, and was glad your tutorials exist.

Hi KxL,

Many thanks for your suggestion!

Yes-Success!! - I selected all the skeleton and plotted ALL[selected] properties from the Animation menu and succesfully imported to Max 2011.

An additional script would be very welcome [and minimise the frustations]

Many thanks again

Edit: The file imports ok into max but will not update exactly the same max model ponytail-still its a start!?

Solved!

Thanks KxL

Hmmm, hard for me to say what happen. You sure that names didn’t change? Have you tried to export, animate by hand one bone of ponytail, import again - does it work? Maybe constraints stayed in the file and that’s the problem ?

Sorry, nothing more I can think off :(
