Hi, I’m attempting to create a squash and stretch rig in MotionBuilder using expression constraints. So far it’s working great, but I’d like the expression only to run when the keying mode is set to ‘selection’, so that non-squash stretch animation can work fine as well.

My question is: is there any way of using the ‘keying mode’ as a parameter within an expression constraint, so I can set up a sort of ‘if’ statement?

Or, can you guys think of another way of achieving the same result if that isn’t possible? Links to people/tutorials where a squash stretch rig has been achieved before would be welcome.

Thanks!

I think your goign to have to trigger a python script to do the keymode check. you should be able to trigger it from the expression as you can trigger them in the relations constraint.
