| bvh file could not be written
|
|
|
Hi all,
Im using motionBuilder 2009. I did a motion capture and fixed it with a layer using control rig, so the naming convention are all ok. I have used the new biped template to do so my NEW problem is when I try to export to bvh file a message appears: “Anim..take001.bvh could not be written”. What im missing?
Can you help me?
Thank you!

I cant believe this..... You cant export to bvh file because the naming convention of 3ds Max biped Template, I think....
Nobody has this problem?
Thank you!

Hi Saul3d,
There’s two different ways you can do this:-
1. Use the Biped template to characterize your FBX exported 3ds Max biped in MotionBuilder- You can then use the FBX plugin to import the retargeted/plotted motion back onto the Biped in 3ds Max. As the naming of the 3ds Max Biped matches between the two the motion will come across as is. Tutorials are included with MB 2009 explaining process in working between 3dsMaxBiped, MotionBuilder, 3dsMaxBiped.
There’s also a short video demoing the process available on the MotionBuilder page on Autodesk.com:-
Working with 3ds Max Biped and MotionBuilder

2. Use a BVH skeleton in MotionBuilder to retarget the motion onto. You can then use the exported BVH animation for import back to Biped in 3ds Max . I think they used to provide a BVH skeleton in the Samples/Gifts folder of the Clip art CD that comes with the software. You will need to use a BVH skeleton if you want to export the motion to /BVH format as the naming of the joints needs to match. Note: I’ve seen other users report issues in importing BVH animations back to Biped in 3ds Max- from what I understand there can be issues with the rotation order not matching which can cause the motion to come across incorrectly.
If you are working between 3ds Max Biped & MotionBuilder, you are probably best using the 1st process above as the process is more straightforward and the results should be cleaner.

Lee

Thank you very much, Lee
for your response. Yes, the bvh skeleton is the old template. (I think)
I was trying to get back the motion to 3ds max “exporting” it to fbx or bvh, from Motion Builder. I was having problems exporting the animation to a fbx file.... but why i was trying to export it to a fbx file instead of saving it as is? ;p
Inside Max, I only have to import it, cheking the “update” option check box. This is the way that i have it working now.
Sry for my english…
Thanks again for your time.
