Easy to Use Mental Ray Integration, less Shadaers, Utils, and so on ...
Easy To Use UV mapping Tools like RoadKill Pro or -UV Unwrap tool- from Modo.
Better polygon tools, Being able create edges on a given Poligon without connecting edges every time more like Max’s cut.
Improved Render Quallity, in less Clicks and Configuration…
Easy to customize Interface Without coding. Enabling users to arrange UIs the way they feel works better. More like Adobe Flash/DreamWeaver or Maxon Cinema 4D.
Better arranged Tools Letting More Space to ViewPorts.

wishlist :)
Dynamically polycount control for Paint effects converted to poly for not increase the viewport.
Pass System, simple to use in 1 touch. :) Like vRay4Maya
Gamma LUT framework :)
Obviously integration of mental ray for strange result about Maya vs max, sampleing for the first are different. Max with importance sampling native for the light is much qualitative.
Real native light mental ray, with not problem with instance and a control like max for the light lister, for specific light.
nDynamic fast :)and full integration with mental ray.

I feel there are 3 big features/improvements that would modernize and advance the software for the future not just the present.

1. Multithreading in ALL deformers, solvers, and calculation intense nodes.
* CPU speeds have stayed the same for the last 5-6 years and only cores have multiplied. Because of this Maya and other applications have become stagnant in the performance curve, while demand has risen.

2.Better OpenGL/Direct 3D performance and shader/hardware feature support.
* Scenes are only as fast as the interaction with the hardware will let them. Sometimes the hardware is a limitation and a lot of times the ‘display’ in Maya is a weakness.

3. Smarter node/DAG management system
* So many times in a production certain tasks of transfering connections between nodes, replacing nodes, saving properties or data is a focus that should be easily done without custom tools, scripts, etc. This includes saving attributes in a more manageable way in the GUI, better layer management for the different layer types and a system for managing selection sets (NOT the relationship editor which is inefficient and not a real solution in its current state).

Lastly if I could just have #1 on this list I would not need as many updates features for years to come. #1 would make Maya outpace the small competition that remains (which it hast done in some ways) and solidify its success and expand its user base in the future.

- New powerful Polygon Modeling Tools for architectures in:(Softimage, 3D Max Polyboost, Modo, Blender).
- New fast Hypershade.
- New fast UVTexture Editor (tools as in: Headus UVLayout, Unfold 3d, etc....).

- Very fast Engine.
- Make nice support textures in Maya.
- Nice support PSD files.

The only wish i have for Maya 2011 is, that it gets rid of all the many, many, many bugs. That would make me a happy Maya user again.
