I created a very simple two poly object and then deleted my construction history and now I cannot seem to create a new polygon in the scene unless I turn off interactive creation.  If I choose create>sphere etc the little sign that says drag on grid appears but when I do nothing happens.  I made a new scene and did the same thing and I don’t have the same problem so Im not sure why in this particular scene.  Is there a setting I have accidentally pressed?  Thanks

try dragging in an orthagraphic view or on the grid in perspective.

Not sure why you are telling me to do this??  If you read what I said you would see that I have tried this. Its the whole reason I posted this thread.

hmm i assumed you had a similar problem to someone else, they couldn’t create an object in the perspective view seemingly due to the angle the camera was, my apologies.

If its scene specific I suppose deleting your prefs or resetting the options would help.
Are you receiving any errors? On releasing the mouse button when trying to drag to create the sphere, does the tool exit? Have you checked the outliner? Have you checked the modelPanels display settings (ie polygons checked on) (silly questions i know, but i dont have the scene in front of me to check them myself)

Problem is, if you had checked a setting, maya would have saved this to prefs and when you open a new scene, the same issue would have occurred.
