I assigned a texture to an object fine and I am able to paint strokes on it. However, when ever I want to undo a stroke, it doesn't undo it and the only way I know of undoing it is by erasing it. Is there any thing I can do to undo whatever strokes I make? Specifically, When the arrow's Rotate X = 0, the object should be green. When Rotate X = 180, it should be red. Any amount in between would be a blend of the two colors. I'm thinking possibly a setRange node to remap channels, but I'm not really sure how to link all of this up. Any suggestions? I was very disappointed in Maya's lack of presets for the mia materials. I have not yet seen anything available that creates texture nodes etc... for the presets on the fly. Is there something like this? In the meantime, I have made some scripts that do just this. If you create an "mia_material_x" or "mia_material_x_passes" you can select one of these new presets from the "Presets" menu within the material and it will create texture nodes and utility nodes where necessary for the particular preset you choose. Changing to another preset will wipe clean the existing one and replace with new nodes for the new preset. I've tried the reference object mode, and while that stops the swimming pretty well, they're appears pops in the textures. I've also tried parenting the 3D texture matrix to object parts, but it still swims. I'd like to avoid converting the textures into 2D file textures as it compromises the look I'm trying to achieve that the 3D ones allows. Any ideas out there would be greatly appreciated. How can I stay procedural and simply blur the outColor of a 2DFluid node for example. I do NOT want to convert to texture (create an external file) and then blur it via the file node. Here is what I did: a) I have a locator world matrix connected to a lightInfo node world matrix. b) I take the sample distance from the lightInfo node and plug it to a setRange node and feed that into the color of a lambert (for testing) which is assigned to a plane. I render and it works! What does not work is when I am using mentalRay and I move the locator position, the fall off shading stays at 0,0,0 world space. The locator position works in Maya Software render but not in mentalRay. Can someone explain to me why mentalRay does not render this correctly? Is it not evaluating the lightInfo node?
