I set my initial keyframes on the first and last frame for a looping walk cycle and now when I scrub the time slider nothing moves after keying a middle frame. It appears to work fine when I play the animation, but nothing when scrubbing a few frames. The numbers in the channel box don't even change when scrubbing although there is clearly a curve in the graph editor. I have update all views in preferences but nothing happens in all 4 views. I am running a student version as I am working on my Masters degree but I figured everything should function. Do you know if Maya has the ability to do any of the following and how? I'm currently working on a big project in Maya and if I could find some way to do any of the follwing it would make things so much easier. 1- With 3Dsmax's biped what I really liked is that you could save the animation data seperately and later apply it to any similar rig made with the same biped tool. In fact you could even animate the rig alone , save the animation and then apply it to the rigged version of the character later on. I hear there's a way to at least save the animation info in Maya but I've no idea how.. 2- Once I figure out # 1 is there a way to edit together and blend different animation clips in sequence? 3- How can I layer animation? Let's say for example you have a walkcycle and want to add some upper body movement (in a separate layer like looking around or scratching his head to the character while he keeps walking ?) and then once you're done collapse the layers into one and save this new animation clip? 4- Also when creating cycles is there some way to copy paste and mirror versions your poses or part of a pose? So far the only thing I found for Maya was the poseLib Script which let me save poses I create. If you haven't used this tool. Try it out it's really nice! I know how to use the curves-post infinity -cycle & cycle offset to cycle the animation but doing so does not actually display the continuing cycleed animation as key on the graph editor so that I can edit & customize the animation at any point. I apologize for so many questions but I'm hoping someone who's experienced in character animation in Maya and using some of these time saving techniques might be able to guide me in the right direction. When I advance the timeline to the location of the clip2, if both of clip2's KF have the same value, nothing happens. If any of the channels in clip2 are animated, only those channels are obeyed, and the object moves relative to its position before the timeline entered the clip. I'd like the object to snap to the location at the beginning of clip2, is that possilbe? I usually animate my camera to follow certain events on screen. For example, an object appears on to the right and then the camera zooms in to focus on it or follow it around for a while. After a little while I end up with many key frames on my timeline. I can scrub back and forth to remind myself what event triggered that camera movement but it can be tedious. If there was a way to annotate the keyframes on the timeline that would be great. The curve creates jagged lines when I add a key between two already existing keys. If I go to frame 165 and key the rotate z attribute from the channel box, the curve creates a drastic jagged curve between frames 160 and 166 which makes the rotation spin like crazy. It adds this crazy jagged curve on all 3 rotation curves. Background info: the keys for all of the effectors have been scaled for slower animation. I hope this question is clear enough to understand.
