Hey everyone.

Just wondering if there is a way to render an object id or any other render element alone without having to render off an entire image? Anyone know of one?

there in rendered view you can control what area to render, however don’t know if you can render only one object

What I meant was that in the render set up window, there is a tab named “render elements”.. in that tab you can set up an element called “Vray Object ID” which after rendering out your scene will give you another image that has every object in the scene shown as a seperate flat colour based on what “ID” number you specify for each object.

My problem is that I have multiple scenes already rendered out that - looking back on them now - could have used an object id layer to make touch ups in photoshop a little easier, but I would rather not have to render out each one from scratch as it takes up to 4 hours per image.

What you can do is make a copy of those scenes, apply a simple material to everything, delete all the lights, and then render the scene with the Object ID element. You still have to re-render, but making it as simple as possible will cut down your render times.

Thanks kreuger. That is what I ended up resorting to after all.
