Reading and looking at images or movies is one thing. Experiencing it in 3D the other. If you like to figure out more about what Showcase is, I would really encourage you to download Showcase Viewer and have a look at the demo files also available on this site. Interact with the models and see how real it looks.

Showcase Viewer is actually a full Showcase install, except data processing and creation tools. This means that you can look at any data created with a regular Showcase you just can´t add any information. But you may join a collaboration session hosed by a Showcase Professional user. Here is where you can get it:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=12693738&linkID=9242539
Operating System
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional (SP 2 or higher)
• Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (Autodesk® Showcase® software runs as a 32-bit application on 64-bit operating system)
• Microsoft Windows Vista® 32-bit or 64-bit, including Business, Enterprise or Ultimate (SP 1)
Note: Showcase can use up to 3 GB RAM on 32-bit Windows XP (with modified boot options) or on Windows Vista 32. 64-bit Windows XP x64 or Windows Vista 64 allows Showcase to access up to 4 GB of system RAM.
Graphics HW
To find qualified Graphics Hardware, check out the qualification chart, found here, but generally you need one of the latest consumer or professiol cards with at least 512 GB of texture RAM:

Have fun

Showcase CATProduct assembly loaded in Showcase 2011 occupies 7 GB of RAM in computer, then pulled me out of Showcase.
Xeon computer with 8 processors and 8 GB of RAM
NVidia 4800 graphics card with 1GB dedicated.
Is it possible to limit the RAM to use the program?
Is it possible to optimize the use of RAM or processes Showcase?

There's a bunch of Flash stuff in the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ShowcaseViewer2010\extras\Flash\CustomUIExample folder, and the readme in the extras folder indicates that they demonstrate a custom UI. The only file that has anything in it is SharedLibrary.swf. I'm just curious how the custom UI will work.
On a similar note, will there be the capability to add bullet points and other text info to the Showcase screen? Or maybe this is part of how the custom UI works?

Thank you for your positive feedback.
Yes we will have a trial with the next version of Showcase.
I am not sure about your second question:
None one of those should have a flash UI included? Which demo file one are you referring to?
Are you talking about the regular overlay UI having this issue?

This is looking really nice. Is there going to be a trial version of Showcase Professional? I'd like to see how some of my own models perform before committing to purchasing, since many of them are more complex than the samples provided.
Also, the custom Flash UI example just shows up as a gray box on my end, even after adjusting security settings...
